Go on, help me get on the spaceships and out of here. |W|P|110176594874495887|W|P||W|P|danpawley@gmail.com11/29/2004 04:31:00 AM|W|P|dan|W|P|Maybe it is the old goth in me coming out, but this afternoon I have been on a Richard Stanley tip. I am going to reactivate my old VCR so I can watch Hardware and Dust Devil again. I have the directors cut of DD, which to the best of my knowledge was shown once on Channel 4 late at night and never again. It is an amazing(ly confused and overambitious) movie about witchdoctors and spirits, but mostly about the endless glorious Namibian desert. Hardware is about a killer robot slaughtering people to a soundtrack of Ministry and PiL and therefore can not be anything less than brilliant. Neither seem to be available on DVD. Is it not wrong that such films can just be lost? Not even twenty years old, and already so far below the cultural radar that I couldn't even find a decent screen grab on the whole internet. And in a world where the likes of Calendar Girls can be applauded. Pshaw. |W|P|110167037065034081|W|P|It's horrible, I love it...what is it?|W|P|danpawley@gmail.com11/29/2004 03:48:00 AM|W|P|dan|W|P|Much kerfuffle in Cardiff this weekend over the opening of the Millennium Centre. It is an amazing building, very dramatic and imposing, although much of the upcoming schedule seems to be opera and all rather highbrow, with precious little bare chested hairy man RAWK. Tonight is the Royal opening, to be graced by Liz, Phil and Chas. Of course, I shall be staying well clear of that, although I suppose I could be missing the opportunity to hear Prince Phillip say something ludicrously offensive. We went down last night and watched the firework display, which was really special, and by its very nature almost impossible to describe in a manner that could do it justice. So I won't, although I must give a special mention to the mad bastards who were parading around with lit fireworks strapped to their actual bodies. Good work. |W|P|110166875427515574|W|P|Explosions In The Sky, f'real|W|P|danpawley@gmail.com11/27/2004 05:23:00 AM|W|P|dan|W|P|The rain is getting heavier. The storm outside is gathering its strength. In a few moments, the lightning will strike the Conductor I have jury rigged on the roof and its Current will travel down through the building onto the operating table where my Blog lies dead, broken and then crudely sewn back together. The revivifying force of this modern elecktricity will rush through its corpse and jolt its heart back to life. I shall have succeeded in Resurrection! Truly then will I be the equal of the Titans! Mere death shall be Overcome! I am blogging to: the sound of the villagers rattling their pitchforks outside.|W|P|110150103948134815|W|P|of unnatural rebirths and an evil stalking presence|W|P|danpawley@gmail.com
